Adonis Rose

Adonis Rose doesn’t just come from New Orleans — he carries its musical legacy with him. A Grammy Award-winning artist, composer, educator, and producer, Rose has spent decades shaping modern jazz from the bandstand to the studio, performing and recording alongside some of the genre’s most celebrated names, including Terence Blanchard, Betty Carter, Dianne Reeves, Marcus Roberts, Harry Connick, Jr., and Wynton Marsalis. His work has taken him to the world’s most revered stages — from Carnegie Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center to Paris’ Olympia, Birdland, the Apollo Theater, and major international festivals including Newport, North Sea Jazz, and Umbria.

With more than fifty recordings to his name (including five as a leader) — and six collaborations with longtime friend and trumpeter Nicholas Payton — Rose’s catalogue reflects both range and deep-rooted artistry. In 2010, he earned a Grammy with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album, further cementing his place as a vital force in contemporary jazz. Adonis talks about his career, the story behind his latest project Jazz Peccioli, and what’s next on the horizon.
